Wat Asokaram is located in Tambon Taiban on Sukhumwit Road, about 6 kilometres from the city centre. Work on the temple was started by Phra Suttithamarangsrikhampeeramaethajarn in 1955. This temple is highly respected by the Thai people and it is an important centre for meditation. The extensive grounds and quiet location by the sea are ideal for pleasant walks. The two main buildings are: Wihan Sutti Thamrangsri and Thutangka Chedi . The latter building is made up of thirteen chedi symbolising the thirteen regulations for pilgrimage. It also contains relics of the Buddha. These were placed inside the chedi by the King and Queen during a special ceremony in 1966.
