Malee’s parents take them to go and visit Bang Nampheung Floating Market. It is in Phra Pradaeng. Her brother and sister go too. They go there by car by crossing a big bridge. It is a weekend market and so it is not open during the week. They arrive at the market early in the morning at 8 a.m.

Have you been to this floating market before? |
| Malee: |
Yes, twice with my family. The food here is very delicious. My father likes buying house plants and my mother buys handicraft. |
| Jane: |
What do you like to buy? |
| Malee: |
I like looking for new fashion accessories. Last time I bought a bracelet. It cost only 95 baht. What do you want to do first? |
| Jane: |
I am not sure. Can we just walk around? Maybe buy some snacks. |
| Malee: |
Yes, I am a bit hungry. I told my father that we would meet him at 11.30 a.m. to have something to eat. Do you want to try this? It is called “khanom krok” in Thai. |
| Jane: |
What is it made from? |
| Malee: |
It is a mixture of flour and coconut milk. It is very delicious. It only costs Fifteen baht for a tray. Do you want to try some? |
| Jane: |
Yes, I will try. |
| Malee: |
Blow on it first, it might be a bit hot. |
| Jane: |
Yes, it tastes really nice. What are those over there? |
| Malee: |
Those are called “khanom thuay” in Thai. I like them very much. |
| Jane: |
What are they made from? |
| Malee: |
It is similar to the “khanom krok” as it is made from flour and coconut milk. But these are steamed and not grilled like “khanom krok”. |
| Jane: |
Let’s try some of those too. How much are they? |
| Malee: |
It is the same price. Fifteen baht for a tray. |
| Jane: |
I like these too. I can see they have two layers. What is the green layer made from? |
| Malee: |
It is coloured green from mixing it with the juice of the pandanus leaf. |
| Jane: |
I can see some people over there on a boat. Can we rent one? |
| Malee: |
Yes, it only costs 50 baht for one hour. Let’s go. |
