การตักบาตรพระ 12,600 รูป: วันที่ 8 พ.ค. 2554 เวลา 6.30 - 9.00 น. ที่สี่แยกราชประสงค์ หน้าห้างสรรพสินค้า Central World  ประชาชนนับแสนมาร่วมกันสร้างมหาสังฆทานครั้งยิ่งใหญ่ เป็นการสร้างบุญใหญ่ ในเทศกาลวิสาขบูชา ถวายเป็นพุทธบูชา โดยการตักบาตรพระ 12,600 รูป ฉลองพุทธชยันตี 2,600 ปี แห่งการตรัสรู้ธรรม โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อช่วยเหลือคณะสงฆ์ 4 จังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ และผู้ประสบภัยพิบัติทางธรรมชาติ ในครั้งนี้ นายสัมพันธ์ เตชะเจริญกุล นายกเทศมนตรีนครสมุทรปราการ ได้ไปร่วมงานมหากุศลด้วย

Alms Offering to 12,600 Monks in Bangkok: On the morning of Sunday 8th May 2011, Mr. Samphan Techacharoenkul, Samut Prakan City Mayor, joined other people from Samut Prakan for a mass alms giving in front of Central World in Bangkok. There were an estimated 100,000 people from Bangkok and neighbouring provinces who gave alms to 12,600 monks. The donated dried food will be sent to 286 temples in the far south where it is too dangerous for the monks to go on alms rounds.
