The museum contains information about the naval history which Samut Prakan province played an important part. In the museum grounds are a seaplane, submarine, tanks and various guns. Inside there are many model ships. The highlights include H.T.M.S. Machanu, the first submarine in Thailand, and the first lighthouse in Thailand.

The museum is open Mondays to Fridays, 09.00 to 15.30. Closed public holidays. Call 02-394 1997 for more information. On Children's Day in January there are special exhibits and shows for the kids in the museum grounds and in the Navy Academy opposite. Admission is free. The museum is on Sukhumwit Road just north of the City Hall. From Bangkok, take air-conditioned buses 511, 508, 525 and 536.

พิพิธภัณฑ์ทหารเรือ - ตั้งอยู่ถนนสุขุมวิท ตำบลปากน้ำ ตรงข้ามกับโรงเรียนนายเรือ จากแยกบางนาไปสำโรงประมาณ 10 กิโลเมตร เป็นสถานที่รวบรวมและอนุรักษ์วัตถุสิ่งของเครื่องใช้ต่าง ๆ และรวบรวมข้อมูลทางประวัติศาสตร์เกี่ยวกับกองทัพเรือไทยและยุทธนาวีครั้งสำคัญ แบ่งเป็น 2 อาคาร คือ อาคาร 1 จัดแสดงประวัติบุคคลสำคัญที่เกี่ยวกับกองทัพเรือ อาทิ สมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช กรมหลวงชุมพรเขตอุดมศักดิ์ องค์พระบิดาของทหารเรือไทย และห้องจัดแสดงเครื่องแบบต่างๆ ของทหารเรือไทย อาคาร 2 ชั้นล่างจัดแสดงอาวุธยุทโธปกรณ์ต่าง ๆ ชั้น 2 จัดแสดงเกี่ยวกับเรือพระราชพิธี ชั้น 3 เป็นการจัดแสดงนิทรรศการพิเศษ หมุนเวียนตามช่วงเวลาและเหตุการณ์สำคัญ เช่น ยุทธนาวีที่เกาะช้าง สงครามเอเชียมหาบูรพา วีรกรรมที่ดอนน้อย เรือดำน้ำแห่งราชนาวี และการปฏิบัติการของทหารนาวิกโยธิน เป็นต้น นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการจัดแสดงวัตถุอาวุธยุทโธปกรณ์ขนาดใหญ่ในบริเวณโดยรอบ อาทิ เรือดำน้ำ รถสะเทินน้ำสะเทินบก รวมทั้งยังสามารถชมประภาคารแห่งแรกของประเทศไทยได้ ณ ที่แห่งนี้ เปิดให้เข้าชมทุกวัน ยกเว้นวันหยุดนักขัตฤกษ์ ตั้งแต่เวลา 09.00-15.30 น. สอบถามเพิ่มเติมได้ที่ โทร. 0 2394 1997 หรือ 0 2475 3808 (ข้อมูลจาก: การท่องเที่ยวแห่งประเทศไทย)

The second Saturday in January every year is Children's year and many places around Samut Prakan put on special activities for children. The Naval Museum is one of the most popular. On the left is the top half of H.T.M.S. Machanu. On the right is the light from the first lighthouse in Thailand. This used to be operational during the reign of King Rama V reign in the Gulf of Thailand.

There are not only things to buy and play in the grounds of the museum, but there is also plenty to see.
